More Info
Milk Oolong is a Tawainese Oolong from the Jin Xuan (Golden Day Lily) cultivar, which is a relatively new cultivar to the world of Oolong teas. It is prized for its inherent creamy, buttery notes and milky aroma.
The real Milk Oolongs, such as this one, offer lightly roasted, rolled leaves that yield a light-bodied cup with sweet buttery texture and delicate floral aroma. The taste is mellow and sweet with unique milk and osmanthus aroma.
It is a hand-picked tea and is grown using biodynamic organic farming methods. It is produced by orthodox methods of:
Plucking -sun withering- room withering- bruising in bamboo trays - wok frying - roasting - rolling - cooling - packing
It is the complex production that brings out the full natural flavour of the leaves.
The cultivar was developed to improve tea yield in Taiwan, and was only introduced in 1980. Though it has quickly become a world famous and sort-after and highly appreciated tea.
